Second Water, Growth and Stability Conference

Background

The Water, Growth and Stability Initiative (WGSINI) was launched at the first Water, Growth and Stability conference, co-organised on April 26-28, 2016, in Szentendre, Hungary, by the Regional Environmental Center (REC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary as a pre-event to the Budapest Water Summit 2016. The WGSIni is a milestone output of the WATER SUM project.

Theme

The second Water, Growth and Stability conference is being organised on the theme “Water, Growth and Stability in Jordan and Tunisia”.

Objectives

The two main objectives are to:

  1. launch the WGSIni forums; and
  2. outline the contribution of the WATER SUM project to the initiative.

 

Working groups

Discussions will be organised in three working groups (WGs):

  • WG 1: Municipality Forum
  • WG 2: Civil Society Forum
  • WG 3: Women's Forum

The conference will be divided into the following sessions:

  1. Plenary session: High-Level Panel “Water, Growth and Stability in Jordan and Tunisia”
  2. Working group sessions
    1. Session 2. Water Resources Management Good Practices and Knowledge Transfer
    2. Session 3. Municipality Forum
    3. Session 4. Civil Society and Women's Forums
    4. Working team sessions
    5. Closing plenary session

  2. T2: Water resources protection in Jordan and Tunisia
  3. T3: Water resources management in a changing climate in Jordan and Tunisia
  4. T4: Local water security action planning in Jordan and Tunisia
  5. T5: The role of civil society and women in water management in Jordan and Tunisia

The working groups will be divided into working teams (WTs) in order to make planning work more efficient. There will be 10 working teams:

  10. WT Sidi Ali Ben Aoun delegation (Tunisia)

 

Organiser

The Water, Growth and Stability conference was co-organised by the Regional Environmental Center (REC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary as a pre-event to the Budapest Water Summit 2016. It constitutes a milestone in the WATER SUM project, which is supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
